Statute 414. Responsibilities of the Head of the University Department/ Principal:

Subject to the supervision and general control of the University/Governing Body, the Head of the University Department/Principal as an administrative and academic Head of the University Department/College shall be responsible for:
(a) Academic growth of the University Department/College.
(b) Participation in the teaching work, research, and training programmes of the University Department/College.
(c) Assisting in planning and implementation of academic programmes such as orientation courses, seminars, in service and other training programmes organised by the University Department/College, for academic competence of the Faculty Members.
(d) Admission of students and maintenance of discipline of the University Department/College.
(e) Management of University Department Library/College Libraries, Laboratory, Gymkhana and Hostels, if any.
(f) Receipts, expenditures and maintenance of accounts and submission of quarterly statement of accounts to the Management and to the Local Managing Committee.
(g) Observance of provisions of Accounts Code.
(h) Correspondence relating to the administration of the University Department/ College.
(i) Administration and supervision of curricular, co-curricular/extra-curricular or extramural activities, and welfare of the University Department/College, and maintenance of records.
(j) Observance of the Act, Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations, Rules and other Orders issued thereunder from time to time.
(k) Supervision of University Department/College and University Examinations, setting of question papers, for the University Department/ College and University Examinations, moderation and assessment of answer papers and such other work pertaining to the Examinations as assigned.
(l) Assessing reports of teachers and maintenance of Service Books.
(m) Any other work relating to the University Department/College as may be assigned to him by the Competent Authority from time to time.
1. Statute 413 (B) (4) came into force w.e.f. 24.02.1984.
2. Statute 414 came into force w.e.f. 23.12.1981.
(n) Assessing reports of members of the non-teaching staff, maintenance of their Service Books and looking after the general welfare of the non-teaching staff.
(o) Observance and implementation of directives issued by Government, authorities viz. Director of Education / Higher Education / University and other concerned authorities.
(p) Safe-guard the interests of teachers/non-teaching staff members and the Management.
(q) Timely submission of information/returns to different authorities viz. Government/University/University Grants Commission/Management etc. especially regarding Accounts matters.

9.Receive leave applications of teaching & non-teaching staff & verify.
10.All other works assigned by the higher authorities as per requirements.

3.To maintain the statistical information.
4.Collect data and information from staff for sending information to Gokhale Education Society office, Jt. D.E. Pune, University of Pune and other offices.
5.Collect work load from teachers and submit the information to Gokhale Education Society and various offices.
6.Maintain the muster of teaching and non-teaching & record of leave of all Teaching and Non-teaching staff.
7.Receive and verification of Leave applications of all teaching & non-teaching staff.
8.All other works assigned by the higher authorities as per requirements.

1.To look after the admission work of under graduate Arts faculty work (from admission to result), BA., B.Lib., M.Lib., MA-MCJ Etc.
2.To maintain the admission register.
3.To maintain university and college results (year-wise).
4.To prepare provide information of students sex wise, caste wise and community wise and subject wise and prepare results break up.
5.To arrange and preserve record of old and recent admission forms, results & documents.
6.To issue T.C. & various certificates to students.

3.To prepare and submit medical reimbursement proposals to Jt. D.E., Pune.
4.To maintain muster, leave records & personal files of all teaching & non-teaching staff.
5.To prepare and issue P.F. slips to all staff. To maintain services books of all teaching and non-teaching staff with updated entries & ML, EL etc.
6.To maintain and preserve pay fixation papers and its difference papers.
7.To preserve all required record of service books.
8.All other necessary work assigned by the authorities.

Work Distribution

1.To prepare salary budget & salary bills of all staff and send it to Jt. Director, Higher Education, Pune Region, Pune & Bank for crediting the staff savings A/c’s.
2.To remit all deduction from salary to respective authorities within the time and to maintain its record.
3.To prepare arrears bills of all related staff and credit the arrears to bank.
4.To prepare the statistical information regarding salary workshops, workload and A to G statements etc. & submit the same to Govt. authorities in time.
5.To prepare Sr. Scale / Selection grade proposals and attend its workshops as per requirements.
6.To issue salary slips to all staff for every month.
7.To attend auditors for salary and non-salary grant audit work and all audits.
8.University examination accounts, prepare submission to University of Pune.
9.To verify the bills of the various dept. and cont. exp.
10.Any other work assigned by the authorities as per requirements.

Work Distribution

1.To receive fees from students and to record it properly and to maintain its yearwise record.
2.To make all payments to students college staff and others.
3.To make payments of B.C. Scholarships and other scholarships in time.
4.To recover dues and advances from staff and students.
5.To maintain reports of daily cash balance in hand.
6.To deposit cheques in Bank.
7.To make payments of University examination fee, enrollment, eligibility and other fees to University of Pune and payments to other parties.
8.To attend all types of Audits.
