About Department of Mathematics
The college established in the year 1924. Department of MATHEMATICS being started in the year 1924, since then Mathematics is taught at the under graduate level for Arts and Science streams. Mathematics was introduced as the principle subject at T.Y.B.Sc. from the academic year 1980-81. Eminent lecturers like Mr. U.M. Saha, Mr. P.V. Patel, Mr. A.G. Lele, Mr. A.M. Natu, Mr. S.K. Garud, Mr. M.K. Kulkarni, Mr. M.S. Sahane, Mr. V.R. Patil, Mr. Parthsarathi S., Mr. C. B. Kshatriya, Mr. R.K. Walzade and Dr. V.S. Kharat contributed in the development of the Department. We are proud of our following Alumni.
- Ananthnarayan Hariharan ( Gold medal at B.Sc., Silver medal at M.Sc.(IIT Powai), P.hd. from Kansas University, USA, Assistant Professor at IIT, Powai.)
- Mr. Jatin Majethia (Research scholar at IISER, Pune, Assistant Professor at COEP, Pune)
- Miss. Sangita Choudhari (First in the University in Mathematics at B.Sc., Research scholar at SPPU, Pune, Assistant Professor at Modern College, Pune)
OBJECTIVES of the department.
- To transform the raw students into multidimensional personality having professional and personal competency.
- Mathematics being a necessary tool for science and social science subjects, to enlarge support in Mathematics to the end users and to improve linkage with industries.
- Become Knowledge centre and a centre of excellence in teaching, learning and extension activities.
